L, what a strange fellow. In the way he acts as well as his appearance. Standing at a full height of 5’8 he is quite small compared to most people of his age, yet he seems even small due to his constantly slouched back. This normally brings him down a few inches or so, yet he does not mind the lack in height. Far from it, he has devised many ways to use it to his advantage.
With a slim build L does not look like much, mostly skin and bone in many people’s eyes. Even when he eats only sweets. This slim build however should not be taken seriously, due to his knowledge in capoeira his body is well toned and muscular. However this is hard to see due to the loose top he wears upon his torso. He has quite pale skin, this has a large contrast with his ‘black as the night’ hair. Many think the light skin colour is due to his lack of time in the sun, they may be right. However, it is likely they will never know.
He has rather long, when compared to most boys, black hair that reaches the back of his shoulders and will hang lightly just before his eyes. Most of the time this hair will seem as clean as anything, yet when working on what he thinks to be hard cases his hair will be slightly greasy. A few people have picked this up, normally the smartest of the children such as Mello and Near. However, it is rare as there are few cases L would see as being ‘hard.’
One of the most obvious and present features about L are his eyes, these have constant bags under them. Many think due to a lack of sleep, yet he always seems ready to act upon the latest information. These bags were present when he welcomed A into the house, and have stayed to this present day.
One aspect of L that rarely, if ever, changes is his cloths. These are kept simple and clean, wearing a long sleeved white shirt and a simple pair of blue jeans. Whenever he is seen wearing the same clothing, yet he has a cupboard of the same clothes. Only wearing these as he feels that having something simple increases his thinking rate by 24%, enough between solving case and failing.
He never wears shoes, this is small but is something quite unique to L. The lack of shoes has no effect on his thinking rate, nor any real positive effect on his actions within a mystery. He prefers it when he can feel the ground on his feet and have nothing, such as shoes, obstructing his feet from the ground. This perhaps is a sense of security, however all that is known is he will not wear shoes.THE DRUGS DON'T WORK

L is quite childish and competitive, in both respects he hates to lose. Never admitting to it and even if he does lose he will do all in his power to reverse it. Going to such lengths as to challenging his predecessor once more and keep going until he beats his opponent more times than his opponent has beaten him. It does not matter what the contest is, from a great crime, to who can spit the greatest distance.
He also cares not for the law or rules when he is working on a crime, he will use any method needed to solve a crime. This can even involve putting himself at risk, however no crime to this date has pushed him to that limit. Yet on many occasions he has used criminals and what are seeing as ‘dirty tricks’ by the police of most nations.
He also acts quite like a child when around people, on most occasions he will not take people to seriously. This can on few occasions be seen as insulting, most people not trusting someone quite so childish. His manner of speaking normally portrays this, making him seem slightly crazy or even stupid.
He is also very silent about his emotions and thoughts, normally expressing only what is needed to be known by the people he works with. On many cases he is seen to be withholding information and being to secretive, along with constantly hiding his face when on cases.
L is also very much committed to his cases, even if they are not personal then he will make them personal. He normally thinks this helps him work better, seeing it as a personal insult or something similar. This will push him to solve a case no matter what and normally becomes quite obvious to the people around him that he becomes attached to the case. Yet not the people involved.

A secret past.
This is a past no one knows of, bar L himself. This is a secret he has kept from all around him, now you may read the truth of his life.
Born on the 31st October 1979 he was born within a small hospital. Unfortunately his mother died at his birth, giving up her own life to all L to be born. His name, L Lavender Lawliet (initials LLL) came from mainly his mother, in memory of her. The L came from the first letter of her name, her name being Linda. Lavender came from her favourite fragrance, Lawliet however did not come from his mother. This was his father last name and in turn was passed down to him, this by coincidence gave him the initials LLL.
With that he was brought up within a small apartment with his father and his new girl friend, showing early progression his father attempted at helping the boy grow. Yet not being too good, however the boy did develop quickly. Learning to speak at three and able to hold a conversation equal to a ten year old at the age of five. However at this young age his father was ripped away from him in a car accident, he was now left with his father’s girl friend.
She however held no real love for the young genius and gave him to a local orphanage. Here he grew up in and this came to be his first real home, at least the first he could remember. Always using the name L he grew up quite alone, never one to socialise or play games with the others. Instead he would read and do puzzles to further his knowledge of the world. It was not that the kids did not ask him, they did...many times. It was just L favoured knowledge over friendship. With this he hardened his emotional strength, having many insults at him from his peers he learnt to take things on the cheek and deal with it. However, with a low income and living style L was never destined for a higher school or private education. Instead he stayed within a simple state school, where he was seen as the smartest in the school and on many occasions bullied for his brains and due to how un-social he was. However, this just helped to harden his emotions, and in turn lead to his hated of crime.
Soon he left the school and became a squatter, on occasions picked up by police and taken in. This was when his love for crime occurred, when being taken into the station one day he overheard the discussion of a large murder case. He was soon told to wait for a superior officer, so he did, yet making sure he could hear the conversation. Hearing all the knowledge he soon came to a conclusion of the crime, compelled her barged into the room and yelled out his thoughts much like a maniac.
With that he was escorted from the room, yet his words were heard. Many of the detectives did not listen, seeing him as a mad child. Yet one took heed to these words, following them up the crime was solved quickly. Amazed, the young detective spoke to his superiors about the break through. Astonished a searching party begun for L, finding him a day later squatting in a small abandoned house reading the paper.
With this he was taken in, for the next few months he was granted a small apartment and helped the police with many cases, being paid equal to the high ranking detective. With each crime solved his renown grew, soon at the age of 16 and seven months he was well known within England. With that Watari appeared, offering tutorage and a world L would enjoy. Taking up the offer L soon begun to work on a number of investigations for the police in England and eventually France. With each crime he took on another was solved, amazed Wammy’s house was opened.
With that the search of the next L begun.YOU'RE GONNA GO FAR, KID

So here he sat, his knees high and his hands resting lightly upon his knees. The clock rung behind him to tell the time, 3 bells rung, echoing in the small lounge. It was three AM, yet he was still not asleep, far from it. He was awake, his mind working away as he drank his coffee, with some sugar in. Or would it be better to say, sugar with a bit of coffee?
It had been four days since D had been welcomed to the house, now E had appeared. The house had only been opened for a week yet Watari had already found many suitable members, even by L’s standards he was amazed by what the man could do at his age. It seemed an old dog could learn new tricks, even make their own.
With a mountain of bit size sweets L watched the young girl before him take a seat, she was no older than eleven. Yet her brain was equal to that of an adult, L knew that, if it was not she would not be here. With an emotionless expression he leant forwards grabbing a small sweet between his index finger and thumb. Lifting it above his mouth he dropped it in, catching it in his tongue and quickly chewing away.
‘Strawberry, nice.’
He thought to himself as he swallowed the sweet, rubbing his bare feet together as he stared at the girl. Watching his shift in her seat, it seemed she was uncomfortable. With a light grin he spoke, [red] “So...why are you here?...E?”[/red] He asked, making sure not to speak the girl’s real name. After all, knowing someone’s real name here was something he was against. It was bit like a game, find out someone’s name you win and they lose, a simple game but a good one none-the-less. With that his hair hung loosely before his eyes as he leant forwards and grabbed yet another sweet, dropping it into his mouth he awaited for the girl’s reply.
He hoped it was good, perhaps have a riddle in it? That would make things interesting, having a small riddle thrown into the conversation. It would keep L on his toes for a few seconds, but it was better than nothing. After all, the girl before him may just be the next him. However he doubted it, from the way she shifted in her seat it gave a sense of weakness. Something not wanted.
